The genomic medicine offers diagnoses and treatments adapted to each individual, interpreting what makes us unique as individuals: our genome.
In this area of research, the PROS Research group, belonging to the Instituto Valenciano de Investigación en Inteligencia Artificial (VRAIN), from the Universitat Politécnica de València (UPV), works in this field with total dedication. The PROS group has developed the DELFOS platform, which seeks to redefine the identification of variations in the genome that cause disease, through the use of Inteligencia Artificial Explicable (IAE) techniques, conceptual modeling and efficient data management. Combining these techniques, the goal is to efficiently exploit all the information dispersed in different information sources, representing knowledge in a standardized way, and guaranteeing interoperability between the different information sources.
Thanks to the DELFOS platform, clinical experts will be able to answer the question: am I making the right decision for my patient? This decision will be based on all the relevant, integrated, and updated knowledge that the platform provides.
Currently, the platform is being evaluated with real users within the framework of the DELFOS project (PDC2021-121243-I00), financed by the AGENCIA ESTATAL DE INVESTIGACIÓN (Subsidy charged to NextGeneration EU., MICIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033), and in collaboration with experts from the Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria La Fe (IIS La Fe) in the field of pediatric cancer and familiar heart disease. This evaluation will make it possible to improve the DELFOS platform and begin its transfer to an industrial environment.
